B Yoga Mat review

This is my B Yoga Mat review after extensive use in a dynamic practice—including Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Hot Yoga. I use the 6mm lilac version, and what stands out immediately is the grip. Whether your hands are bone dry or drenched in sweat, this mat holds you in place. In fact, the grip is so good that it can actually be a challenge in certain practices—especially Ashtanga, where smooth jump-throughs and transitions benefit from a little glide.

Still, if you’re looking for one of the best yoga mats out there that is grippy, eco-conscious mat and that performs well right out of the box, the B Yoga Mat is an excellent contender in the lineup of best sustainable yoga mats.

B Yoga Mat Review– High Grip Meets Eco-Conscious Design

Made from 100% natural rubber, the B Mat ticks the sustainability box without compromising performance. It has a minimalist design, comes in beautiful muted tones (my lilac version is especially calming), and rolls flat with little curl at the edges. With 6mm of dense cushioning, it also offers excellent joint support, making it a comfortable choice for longer holds and strong transitions alike.

The catch? That natural rubber comes with trade-offs. While it's grippy and earth-friendly, it also shows wear faster than closed-cell PVC mats like the Manduka PRO. With regular dynamic practice, expect to see signs of wear—especially where your hands and feet frequently land.

This is common for rubber yoga mats, such as the much loved Jade Harmony, so except to replace it after 4-5 years, especially if you have a regular dynamic yoga practice.

B Yoga Mat Review

Key Features of The B Yoga Mat:

Incredible Grip (Almost Too Much):
If you want a mat that sticks, the B Mat delivers. This is perfect for Hot Yoga or strong Vinyasa flows. However, Ashtanga practitioners may find the grip a bit too intense—jump-throughs can feel sticky, and transitions less fluid.

Of course, this can be a good thing as it may make you work a little harder to lift up and jump back!

Eco-Friendly Materials:
Made entirely from natural rubber, this mat is biodegradable and free of PVC and harmful chemicals. A solid choice for those seeking a more sustainable practice.

Comfortable Cushioning:
At 6mm, it’s generously padded without feeling too soft or squishy. Ideal for anyone dealing with wrist or knee sensitivity. It also comes in 4mm and 2mm options, however the 6mm is my personal favourite.

Minimalist Design:
Clean, simple, and stylish. No alignment markers or busy patterns—just a calm, modern aesthetic in a range of muted colors.

Key Stats:

  • Weight: Approx. 2.1–2.3 kg

  • Length: 180cm

  • Thickness: 6mm

  • Material: 100% natural rubber

  • Grip: High (dry & wet)

  • Best for: Hot yoga, Vinyasa, sustainability-minded yogis

  • Longevity: 2–3 years with regular dynamic use

Real-World Use of the B Yoga Mat:

The B Mat performs beautifully from day one—no break-in period required. I’ve used it in sweaty Mysore rooms, fast-paced flows, and restorative sessions, and it holds steady in every situation. It’s also lightweight enough to carry to class without strain and easy to roll and store.

However, the mat does begin to show wear relatively early. If you practice multiple times a week with a lot of movement, expect visible hand and foot imprints within a year or two. That said, it doesn’t flake or peel, and the grip stays solid even as it wears.

Final Thoughts:

The B Mat is one of the best yoga mats out there if grip and sustainability are your top priorities. It feels grounded, comfortable, and dependable across a wide range of practices. While it might not match the long-term durability of the Manduka PRO, it more than earns its place in a well-rounded yoga kit—especially for environmentally conscious practitioners who want excellent performance without the long break-in period.
